Project founder Varenyaa Jain is a student at Charterhouse School in the UK, where she is currently pursuing her A Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. She is particularly interested in aerospace engineering and materials science, and enjoys exploring how complex systems, from satellites to energy technologies, can be applied to real-world challenges. Her interest in STEM has also been shaped by experiences such as the Michigan Math and Science Scholars Program and an internship at ITER in France, where she was introduced to fusion energy and advanced material systems. Beyond academics, she has trained in Kathak for several years and actively engages in speech and drama, experiences that have helped her become more expressive and confident in communicating ideas. She also co-founded a small food venture, through which she gained early exposure to building a product and generating income in practical ways. Growing up in India while studying abroad is what led Varenyaa to become increasingly aware of the gap between rapid technological progress and everyday access to it. OVOW grew out of this reflection; as her attempt to understand how innovation can become more inclusive, practical, and meaningful in people’s daily lives, particularly in enabling access to skills and economic opportunities within underserved communities; for women and young girls like her.
